Rights being essential for all-round development of the personality of the individual in the society be necessarily protected and made available to all the individuals. Therefore, there is a provision for freedom to the citizens in all the essential aspects of all modern constitutions. In the preamble of the UN, there is mention of the endeavor to defend human rights all over the world. Besides, a Human Rights Commission was constituted in the UN in 1946. This Commission was entrusted to prepare a draft by taking into consideration the following subjects:
(a) Social rights
(b) The position of women in the society,
(c) The security of the minorities and
(d) The differences among the people in respect of nationality, religion and language etc.
On the basis of the draft prepared by the Commission, the International Human Rights Declaration had been accepted on 10th December 1948. So, this day is being celebrated all over the world as the World Human Rights Day. Afterward, two more treaties on Human Right had been accepted by the UN on 16th December 1966.
